Under a new name, Radial Arts refines its mission to promote access to engaging arts experiences in New York’s Capital Region
Saratoga Springs, NY – SaratogaArtsFest’s Board of Directors has announced an exciting change—a new name! Now known as Radial Arts, the new name reflects the organization’s dedication to connecting Saratoga Springs and other communities throughout the Capital Region with free art experiences across genres, venues and ages.
“Similar to the spokes of a wheel, Radial Arts acts as a crucial connection point between a vibrant community of artists and all types of art appreciators,” says Board Chair Ellen Beal. “Radial Arts seeks to introduce artists, cultural organizations and venues to new audiences, enhancing access to the arts while inspiring our community as a whole.”
Formerly known as SaratogaArtsFest, Radial Arts showcases artists, performers and regional institutions through free, culturally-diverse and distinctive arts experiences for audiences of all ages in and around Saratoga Springs.
This year’s roster of activities will include a stunning line-up of visual arts, dance, poetry and theatre. Radial Arts will be partnering with important cultural institutions in the region for a variety of special events and programming, including SPAC, the National Museum of Dance, the Tang Museum and the Saratoga Shakespeare Company.
Since its founding as a city-wide arts festival by Skidmore College in 2006, the organization has played a special and unique role in promoting the region’s artists, performers, community groups and cultural institutions. “Generations of families look forward to coming to our free events. Our audiences tell us they love being able to discover something new and unexpected in fun social settings that invite participation. We make sure to build experiences in each of our events that encourage audiences to explore new ideas and interact with each other, artists and performers,” says Creative Director Nicole Coady.
Reflecting on this transformative moment, Program Chair Ian Berry comments, “We take great pleasure from knowing that this new beginning is built on the solid foundation of SaratogaArtsFest’s past institutional vision and accomplishments. Our name may be changing, but what remains constant is our commitment to connecting new audiences to the community’s vast artistic and cultural experiences. A collaborative artistic and cultural energy has recently grown in Saratoga Springs and the greater Capital Region. Radial Arts is thrilled to be part of this.”
